1961 Sunbeam Alpine Mk II

In 1956 Kenneth Howes and Jeff Crompton were tasked by Rootes to completely redesign the Sunbeam Alpine, the goal being to produce a dedicated sports car aimed principally at the American market. Howes contributed some 80% of the overall design work which bears more than incidental resemblance to the early Ford Thunderbird; he had, after all, worked at Ford before joining Rootes. It was three years later that the 'Series' Alpine went into production, and one of the original prototypes,
which was raced by British Saloon Car Champion Bernard Unett, still survives.
Since its complete restoration in 2006 this very beautiful and rare Sunbeam Alpine has been carefully stored and serviced with nominal mileage only. The body was completely stripped and re-sprayed in white, while the engine received a complete rebuild with new pistons, bearings, valves etc. The gearbox was sealed and the overdrive has been maintained to ensure that it works as it should. The whole braking system was also overhauled. The chassis and axles were shot blasted and have
been powder coated. The interior trim was completely renewed in black, with seats piped in white and also comes with its rare hard top finished in black. This Sunbeam is a rare car in itself and to find one in LHD and in superb restored condition is a unique opportunity for any serious Sunbeam collector.
The car has German paperwork and historic registration.
Dieser wunderschöne Sunbeam Alpine wurde seit seiner Komplettrestaurierung in 2006 sorgfältig gelagert und gewartet bei einer minimalen Laufleistung. Die Karosserie wurde komplett entlackt, gestrahlt und erhielt einen neuen Lackaufbau in weiß. Der Motor wurde komplett überholt mit neuen Kolben, Lagern, Ventilen usw. Getriebe und Overdrive wurden komplett abgedichtet bzw. revidiert. Die gesamte Bremsanlage wurde ebenfalls überholt. Chassis und Achsen wurden
gestrahlt, verzinkt und pulverbeschichtet. Das gesamte Interieur wurde erneuert in schwarz mit weißen Kedern and den Sitzen. Das sehr seltene Werks - Hardtop ist ebenfalls vorhanden und wird mitgeliefert. Dieser Sunbeam ist heute ein seltenes Fahrzeug und sein excellenter Zustand macht ihn noch seltener, was einem Liebhaber oder Sammler dieser engl. Traditionsmarke sicher bewußt ist. Der Wagen hat deutsche Papiere und ist für H-Kennzeichen vorgesehen.
