Ref 25
1990 BMW 850i
EU registered Chassis No. WBAEG21070CB01255
The BMW 8 Series debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in early September 1989. A departure from the existing 6 Series Grand Touring cars, the 8 Series was aimed more towards the supercar market, and it was seen as BMW's flagship car while in production.
Over 1.5 billion Deutschmarks were spent on development of this new model. BMW used ground breaking CAD tools, unused by other manufactures at the time to design an all-new body ultra sleek yet elegant body. Combined with
wind tunnel testing, the car had a drag coefficient of 0.29, a major improvement from the previous BMW 635CSi's 0.39.
At the heart of the car was an awesome BMW V12 power plant boasting some 300 bhp. This engine went on to power the McLaren F1, arguably the finest super car ever produced. The 850i went out of production in 1994, with the successor being the even more powerful 850 CSi. These fantastic cars are a true testament of BMW quality engineering and are now available at a fraction
of the £60,000 price tag when new, and this fine example is no exception.
Finished in the most attractive colour combination of dark blue metallic with a black leather interior, this car has covered a mere 58,000 km from new and has just been subject of a big service at a BMW main dealer and a new set of wheels at a cost of some € 4,500. As a result, it is being described by the vendor as in good to excellent condition throughout. Surely a very useable bargain.
Estimate: € 14,000 – 17,000
