The original Ford Escort was introduced in the United Kingdom at the end of 1967. It replaced the successful long running Anglia. The car was presented in continental Europe as a product of Ford's European operation. Escort production commenced at Halewood in England during the closing months of 1967, and at a new plant on the edge of Saarlouis, West Germany in 1970.
The Escort had conventional rear wheel drive and a four-speed manual gearbox, or 3 speed automatic transmission. The suspension consisted of a simple live axle mounted on leaf springs, but with rack-and-pinion steering. The Mk I featured contemporary styling cues in tune with its time: a subtle Detroit-inspired "Coke bottle" waistline and the "dogbone" shaped front grille, arguably the car's most famous stylistic feature.
This 1973 Escort Coupë received a ground up restoration some 10 years ago and is still in excellent condition throughout. The body was stripped and new wings and other body parts were fitted. The car was then totally re-sprayed in yellow. The axles were overhauled and zinc and powder coated. Having been driven some 20,000 kilometres since the restoration, this pretty little sports car is sure to please its next owner. It comes with a new TÜV and German registration documents.
Dieser Ford Escort wurde vor ca. 10 Jahren total neu aufgebaut. Die Seitenteile, Kotflügel, Frontbleche und Radhäuser wurden dabei durch Neuteile ersetzt und das Fahrzeug wurde komplett in gelb lackiert. Die Achsen wurden überholt und verzikt bzw. pulverbeschichtet. Seitdem lief der Wagen ca. 20000 km ohne Probleme und wird hier mit neuem TÜV und deutschen Zulasungspapieren angeboten.
