The Jaguar Mk VII saloon and the XK sports car dominated two sectors of the high performance car market in the early 1950s. In order to increase this share further, Jaguar developed a sporting medium-sized saloon. The resultant design was to be one of Jaguar's most successful cars, the Mk I of 1955, which was subsequently updated in October 1959 when the Mk II version appeared, making a good car even better. Similar in appearance but with a much larger glass area and vastly improved interior, it boasted a wider rear track to improve road holding together with minor front suspension changes to reduce body roll and all round discs rather than drum brakes This car, with the 3.8 litre, 220bhp engine, was to be the ultimate Jaguar saloon. Naturally, performance was excellent, figures for maximum speed and 0-60mph being 125mph and 8.5 seconds
This original lefthand drive Jaguar Mk II has been owned by its vendor since 1992. Being the Flagship of the classic Mk II range, this most desirable version is equipped with power assisted steering, manual gearbox and overdrive. This very late car has been comprehensively restored over the years and serviced as necessary. There are invoices to substantiate the work done. Most recently the overdrive unit has been overhauled and the car is finished in gleaming black. There are no signs of rust whatsoever. Chrome wire wheels further enhance this classic Jaguar’s stunning appearance. The burgundy leather interior is still original and shows the desirable patina now so often missed. The carpets are of a newer date. Dieser original linksgesteuerte Jaguar MK II erfreut seinen Besitzer seit 18 Jahren. Als Flaggschiff der klassischen MK II Serie umfasst seine Ausrüstung sowohl Servolenkung, 4 Gang Getriebe und Overdrive. Dieses späte Modell - der 77 letzte aller gebauten 3.8 MK II `s wurde er über die Jahre sorgfältig restauriert und gewartet. Rechnungen sind als Beleg hierfürvorhanden. In excellenter Qualität präsentiert sich seine Lackierung in glänzendem schwarz und obwohl diese Arbeiten schon einige Jahre zurückliegen gibt es keine Anzeichen von Rost und dergl. an der Karosserie. Das Lederinterieur ist original in dunkelrot und zeigt eine schöne Patina, während die Teppiche neueren Datums sind. Das Fahrzeug war stets zugelassen und besitzt H - Kennzeichen, einen deutschen KFZ - Brief und Tüve bis juli 2009.
