Ref 66
1947 Lancia Moretti 750 Sports
EU registered Chassis No. 750-1360
Giovanni Moretti started his own business in 1925 when he was 21 years old. The business was situated at Via Monginevro 280 in Turin and it was here that he built his first motorcycle. Before World War II, Moretti had already moved on to motorised three-wheeler delivery vans but when he restarted after the war, he started to build sports cars. In contrast to most of the other special car builders in Italy who used Fiat or Lancia parts, Moretti made his own. He was not scared of building engines with overhead camshafts and his engines made him world famous.
This 1947 Lancia Moretti, chassis number 750-1360 was used by the Scuderia Traguardo Milano which was managed by a well known preparer of Lancia racing cars, Rinaldo Tinarelli. Although the Scuderia was lacking in finance they had many good results. The car on offer was eventually taken over by one of the Scuderia's investors, nobleman Marchese Baldi Doria. The car was added to his collection and conserved for many years in his castle in Monferato.
In 2000 the car was reconditioned to take part in historic rallies with further restoration carried out by Scotti Lancia agent for Casale Monferrrato which was completed in 2003. The specification of the car includes body construction in alloy by Motto of Torino and the frame is a modified Fiat. The engine is a Lancia Ardea V4 that has had the displacement reduced to 750cc. The Moretti kit includes the cylinder head, special cams, hi compression pistons, Del Orto carburettors and a free flow racing exhaust. Finished in red and supplied with the original Italian log book this car is ready for historic motor car events throughout Europe.
Estimate: € 65,000 - € 75,000
