Description

Terry Cook was a member of the Squires of Chatham hot rod club before he got his driver’s license. He was the flag starter at Island Dragway in Great Meadows when it opened in 1961. He wrote a column for DRAG NEWS under the pseudonym BROOMFOOT in the early 60’s, moved to LA in 1964 and worked as a full time staff writer for DRAG WORLD for several years. In 1966 he went to work as a writer at CAR CRAFT Magazine, later becoming the editor during the golden years of that publication. He then moved across the hall at Petersen Publishing to become the editor of HOT ROD for 1972-73. Terry is also the driving force behind DecoRides.

As the first custom show car to sit completely flat on the floor with its hydraulics dropped, the 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr “Scrape” has become an icon of the custom car world. The product of a nearly five year collaboration between Hot Rod coach builder Terry Cook and coach builder Ramsey Mosher. The rise of the creation “Scrape” began the well renowned and respected hot rod builder, DecoRides.

The original design language of the car is still clearly seen and this is no mere coincidence. Terry Cook is a passionate coachbuilder and admirer of the original designers with further inspiration provided by Figoni et Falaschi, Jacques Saoutchik, and Gordon Buehrig is discernible in mostly all of the DecoRides produced.  It comes as no surprise then that the Design Council of NYC voted the DecoRides Lincoln as the most beautiful car in the world.

Starting life as a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr, in 2005 the car was transformed into the stunning creation presented today. During the build at Decorides it is estimated that around 80% of the car is new, although it does retain the original 1939 chassis frame.

Finished in cream with a beautiful art-deco inspired leather interior, the Lincoln has been modified in typical DecoRides fashion with replacement alloy wheels, a newly styled front end and a modified window screen with a lower rake, lending the car an all-round aerodynamic feel only DecoRides could pull off. Since completion the car has covered a mere 2700 miles. Described by the vendor to be in excellent condition, this must rank as one of the most beautiful cars for sale in the world today.
