The Citroen 2CV AZ is the most sought after model of the iconic French masterpiece. Produced from 1954 to 1960, it is the purely original 2CV model, yet a genuine daily driver. The AZ is recognisable by its long soft-top covering the trunk, its hood with side vents and of course, the inimitable sound of its 425cc air-cooled twin cylinder engine.
The 2CV AZ is extremely rare, with only 600 estimated 2CV AZ still on the road, making the model presented here today, truly unique. Indeed, the car is the 1960 model and was sold on the 2nd January of that year making it one of the last produced. It was also the only year when Citroen customers were allowed to choose a new colour, Bleu Glacier, as before that, AZ’s could only be ordered in grey.
This AZ is in an incredible condition, looking and driving like new. The car has been the subject of a body off restoration with the sole purpose of maintaining originality wherever possible. The paintwork was resprayed in the original Bleu Glacier and the interior re-trimmed in the original Bayadere fabric. The engine has been serviced, along with the gearbox, clutch, brakes, suspension and wiring. The soft-top is also new and the car benefits from new tyres all round.
This model is sold with French documentation and comes with a clear bill of health from the French Controle Technique (MOT) passed in February 2017. There is a comprehensive history file with invoices of the restoration work carried out for the new owner. This superb 2CV AZ offers a chance to own a beautiful, totally reliable and very rare piece of French motoring art.
