Located in Lambrate on the outskirts of Milan, Innocenti’s Lambretta scooter built its huge success around the principles of intelligent design, good performance and high reliability. This success was spearheaded by the 1950 LC, the 1951 LD and 1958 Li models – all fully-faired scooters with 125 or 150cc single cylinder 2-stroke engines.
The Series 2 125 Li, as offered here, was powered by a 5.2hp 125cc 2-stroke motor with a 4-speed gearbox. Weighing 104kg, 47,747 Series 2s were produced, all in two-tone grey, from October 1959 to November 1961. The Series 2 version was almost identical to the earlier Series 1 (April 1958 to October 1959) except that the headlamp now moved with the steering and was no longer fixed .
This Series 2 example has been repainted but is otherwise in original condition. It was previously owned by a keen scooterist who rode it around the coast in Liguria and it comes to sale with its Italian Libretto registration document.
