The 3500GT is highly praised for its attention to detail, impressive level of comfort and intoxicating high-speed cruising ability. It has all the right ingredients of a thoroughbred Italian grand turismo, but it is made even more desirable thanks to its significance. With the 3500GT, Maserati embarked on the path of building fast but comfortable production cars that the company is still on to this day. It also allowed one of the all-time great marques to stay in business.
This particular 1962 Maserati 3500 GTI was imported into South Africa in 1980. The car was seldom used and the current owner purchased it in 2005. Displayed in Silver with black leather interior and completed with the 3,485cc, 220-hp inline-six and Five-speed manual transmission. Excellent paint and exterior cosmetics, with good chrome. A very nice example overall. The car has had a cosmetic restoration, the aluminium coachwork has been refinished in the original silver colour, brakes and hoses and callipers, have been overhauled, new clutch and pressure plate, new water pump fitted and radiator restored.
Fuel injection and fuel pump have been recondition with all new fuel lines. A new stainless exhaust has been fitted. The Interior dash cover is new, as is the hood lining. Carpets and panels are original. New rubbers fitted to front and back screens. The chrome has been refurbed and the car has recently been serviced and sits on new tyres. A fantastic opportunity to acquire one of Maserati’s most sort after road going machines.
