Manual Overdrive
Jaguar saloons led the field in production and touring car races during much of the 1960’s. Not surprisingly the quickest and most successful private entries came from John Coombs’ Jaguar dealership in Guilford. John Coombs had significant race experience and his dealership simply got it right for a fortunate few racing enthusiasts. Very early on that included Hill, Salvadori and Salmon.
This nice later example of the ultimate specification Mark II, fitted with the 3.8 litre engine and four speed manual/overdrive gearbox, was delivered new in the UK in 1965, later being restored with a Coombs-style vented bonnet, chrome wire wheels, stainless exhaust system and period rear luggage rack for touring purposes. In current ownership our vendor has invested much to bring the Mark II up to his exacting standards.
The Mark II is offered with a substantial history file, original green logbook and several older MOT certificates dating back a number of years. Finished in Carmen Red with a matching red leather interior showing excellent patina, this is a great Jaguar for the enthusiastic driver, and we feel a sound buy in the current market.
