The Alpina on offer today is in stunning condition with every period upgrade in place. The matching numbers 1600 engine is fitted with twin Dellorto 40 DHLA carburettors. Most recently the cylinder head has been ported and polished- whilst the crank, pistons and clutch have been dynamically balanced; the engine produces some 115bhp.
The suspension is Bilstein all round with Alpina uprated and lowered springs. The braking system has also been up-rated to Tii specification with ventilated front discs. All ball and steering joints are replaced and an alloy strut brace is fitted.
The interior is fitted with genuine Recaro front and rear ( with rare centre armrest) trimmed in original Ambla breathing vinyl. Carpets are new/ original moulded from BMW and all instruments and switchgear are as new. Music is delivered from an original period Blaupunkt 3 waveband .
Most notably the car has own BMW car club ‘Best of show classic’ three times. It has also been featured in numerous high profile magazine features including Total BMW, BMW driver and Das Auto. The car also featured on the cover sheet of James Taylors famous book ‘Alpina’.
Testament to its mechanical strength, the car has regularly competed on numerous regularity rallies in Ireland, wales and Germany with numerous class results on such prestigious events as the Circuit of Ireland, Welsh Three Castles and the ADAC Old Timer challenge Bavaria.
Believed to be only 1 of 4 cars of this type and only 1 of 2 remaining registered prior to 1968. The relevance of this date is that this BMW is eligible for entry into the very sought after Historic section for FIA International Motorsport for Pre- 1968 cars. The 1600-02 /Ti was homologated for use since 1966 but very few remain.
The car is supplied complete dossier of original documentation including an original purchase and service information along with a detailed and photgprahic history of the cars restoration in 1988/2000 . Copies of the original FIA homologation papers are also available if required. For the collector and not to be missed.
