The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the greatest sports cars ever built, with a history spanning more than forty years. Improvements were made in 1955 with the introduction of the Ed Cole designed 4.3-litre V8, one of the ‘milestone’ engines of the American motor industry. Former works Allard and Porsche works driver Zorn Arkus-Duntov then helped develop chassis and suspension adjustments which greatly improved road holding.
One of only 872 finished in Riverside Gold in 1969, this lovely Corvette C3 was fitted from new with a number of desirable factory options, such as the L46 High Performance Turbojet 350ci (5.7-litre) engine, producing 350bhp, a close ratio manual gearbox, the Positrack limited slip differential, power steering and an AM/FM radio.
We are informed that this Corvette enjoyed a complete body off restoration in the early 2000s, after which the car went on to form part of a substantial American collection. In 2013 a full recommission was undertaken, involving a new clutch and battery.
The Corvette is offered with its original build sheet, owner’s manual, original factory hardtop, and is supplied with a UK V5 document and a new MoT certificate.
Having covered a mere 1,000 miles since being restored and described as being in stunning condition, this is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a unique piece of American motor history and will attract as much attention today as it did when it rolled off the production line.
