The Series 2 moved the E-Type along, bringing further refinements and changes in detail styling. The most noticeable change was the larger ‘mouth’ at the front, the open headlights without glass covers, full wrap-around bumpers and larger front and rear lamps which were now to be situated below the bumpers.
New fully reclining seats were fitted as standard. Under the skin many changes made the Series 2 the most developed and reliable E-Type in standard form. Cooling was improved, aided by the enlarged mouth, larger radiator and twin electric cooling fans. Braking was substantially uprated, with larger callipers all round. The gearbox also received a lower first gear ratio more suited to modern traffic conditions.
Always a dry-state car, this stunning Roadster was bought by the current owner directly from Texas. Since being repatriated, it has benefitted from much restoration work. The body was stripped of paint, two new doors were fitted, and then everything carefully repainted.
New chrome bumpers have been fitted, as have new chrome wire wheels. The seat and hood frames were painted, and a complete new interior fitted by the well known firm of Aldridge Trimming. The interior work was detailed and covered new seats, hood, carpets and tonneau cover.
Described by the vendor, a serious Jaguar collector, as being in excellent condition all round, KTH 658H is a wonderful example and an opportunity not to be missed.
