The Jaguar E-Type (a.k.a. Jaguar XK-E) was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd. between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. The Series 2 introduced a number of design changes, largely due to U.S. design legislation. The most distinctive feature is the absence of the aerodynamic glass headlight covers. Other hallmarks of Series 2 cars are a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged “mouth” and twin electric fans, and uprated brakes.
This wonderful matching numbers example enjoyed a frame-off restoration in 2016 to a fine standard, with a beautiful finish to the paint and chrome, and interior which can only be described as new. We understand the powerful 4.2 motor runs perfectly and shifts without fault through the four speed manual gearbox. The E-Type is finished very nicely with a polished wood steering wheel and chrome wire wheels on each corner. The convertible roof is as new and functions without fault, in fact the whole car is extremely well presented.
Finished in Champagne metallic with a contrasting black leather interior, all in all this is a very fine example of the definitive open sportscar of the 1960s.
