Designed to be the more comfortable and drivable of the 911 range, and fitting in between T (Touring) and the S (Super), the designation ‘E’ came simply from the German for injection. The mechanical fuel injection system (MFI) was used on the 911E and the 911S, and developed jointly between Bosch and Porsche. The benefits were better power and drivability with a cleaner running engine. The interior had a few more comfort features, better brakes and gold script on the engine cover. The 911 2.2 E were called “The secret weapon from Zuffenhausen”. Despite the lower power output compared to the 911 2.2S, the 911E actually accelerated more quickly.
This fantastic 2.2E is described as being in excellent condition, having been garaged for the last 10 years and maintained very carefully. During this period, maintenance work was carried out by Jaz Porsche in London and by Whelan Porsche Motorsports in Ireland. The vehicle is very original, retaining its factory floors, carpets, seats, even radio.
The engine enjoyed a complete rebuild in 2010, and shows just 4,000 since the work was completed. The current owner has clearly enjoyed his classic 911, driving it every weekend. In his own words, “One test drive and you will want this car”.
Offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original Porsche 911E Handbook and Irish registration papers, this classic 911 is truly a rare find and a great opportunity for its next owner.
