Chassis No 60
Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built before F.I.A approval for international racing was granted, led to the creation of ‘Project 930’ – the legendary Porsche 911 Turbo. Production began in April 1975: the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0 litre RSR engine, which in road trim delivered 260bhp and a top speed of 155mph. As impressive as this was, there was more to the Turbo than just top speed. It was also the best equipped 911 produced until that point, amazingly flexible – hence there being only a four speed gearbox – as well as being formidably fast. Indeed, standstill to 100mph was achieved in a mere 14 seconds.
Borrowing the flared wheel arches and ‘tea tray’ rear spoiler from the Carrera model, the Turbo had aggressive looks to match the performance. It also incorporated the most luxurious interior yet seen in a 911, with leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows.
Out of the only 644 Porsche Turbos produced in 1976 for the European market, #00060 is matching numbers, one of the first 200 and as such is very special. The 911 Turbo was the basis for the 934 group 4 car, its gearbox was almost identical to the 934, and the one we are pleased to offer here is one of these early cars. Delivered new to Porsche Düsseldorf on 01st October 1976 (as shown in the car’s Porsche certificate), #00060 was equipped with a Blaupunkt Bamberg radio, air conditioning (M559) and electric sunroof (M650). A German Classic Data expert evidence from 30.06.2016, is available in the car’s file.
This 930 has been restored completely several years ago and its engine has been rebuilt during this restoration. These affectionately named Ur -Turbos are in high demand nowadays and prices have risen considerably in recent years. The expert evidence available shows this Porsche with a value of €240.000.
Recently #00060`s interior was restored/renewed and its engine management was repaired as necessary. The car received a new petrol tank, new fuel lines, brakes, wheels, tyres, shock absorbers and a new exhaust system. To make it ready for immediate use, all lubricants were changed.
Offered here at a very sensible reserve this Porsche Turbo is certainly not to be missed by any collector or enthusiast.
