The Volkswagen Golf Mk1 is the first generation of small family cars manufactured by the German carmaker. It was noteworthy for signalling the shift from rear-wheel drive and rear-mounted air-cooled engines to the front of the car. Successor to the iconic Beetle, the first generation golf styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro’s Italdesign has proven to be a hugely successful model, with new models extremely desirable even today.
This very honest and well looked after example has just covered 53,000km (33,000miles) from new! The previous owner imported the car from Monaco in 2015 and is therefore an original Italian example. Since imported, it has only needed to be maintained as is, because it was in remarkable condition already. The cars overall condition is great due to it being in a warm climate its whole life, there is a crack or two in the top of the dash which is common for these dashboards & there is a small tear in the headliner (8mm approx). Apart from that the interior is in great shape. The exterior has had a good quality repaint before import in its original diamond silver. The body has never been subject to any welding in its life and doesn’t require any either, the sills are straight & true having never been jacked up on them! Drives as it should do with no issues. Under wheel arches there is still original paint and even has factory etched numbers still visible on suspension components too! Any car in this condition is getting harder to find and it is fantastic to find such a beautifully well-kept example. Original manuals & keys present with service history. Good and honest car.
