The Porsche 924 is a luxury sports car which was produced by Porsche AG of Germany from 1976 to 1988. A two-door, 2+2 coupé, the 924 replaced the 914 as the company’s entry-level model, and was the model that finally retired the 912. In production terms, the 924 was the first Porsche model powered by a water-cooled, front-mounted engine although the similarly configured 928 was designed first. The front-engine, rear wheel drive arrangement was normal for most other manufacturers, but it was unusual for Porsche having previously only used mid- or rear-mounted engines of a boxer configuration, all of which had been air-cooled.
This early example is presented in very original condition throughout. The interior retains the original features such as the dashboard and dials as well as the seats and all present in good condition. The 924 was registered with the number RIJ 924 in the early 1980’s which it retains today. The odometer shows a mere c.37,200 miles and the comprehensive history file that comes with the car includes all old mot’s with mileage, two keys, various magazine articles as well as invoices of maintenance work carried out and a comprehensive history record dating back to the 1970’s. It is extremely rare to find a pre-1980 924 on the market, especially one that has not been modified in some way. The nicest 924 we have seen in a long time.
