The Bi-Turbo was initially a strong seller and brought Italian prestige to a wide audience and competed (unsuccessfully) in the British Touring Car Championship in the late 1980’s, the European Touring Car Championship and the 1987 World Touring Car Championship. The Spyder version was introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1984 and was designed and built by the world class designers, Zagato. Overall 3,076 were built over a ten year period, setting a production record for Maserati Spyders.
Attractively finished in black with a light grey leather and alcantara interior, this later 1989 example still wears its original first paint, and is offered with a comprehensive history file and the associated service records. With just 60,000 kilometres from new, the Spider offers true supercar performance and sharp 80s looks – a fabulous option for Italian sportscar fans.
