The Range Rover was greeted enthusiastically by both press and public on its arrival in 1970, offering comfortable cruising at 90mph and a greater off-road capability than most of its customers would ever need. The fact that the original lasted in production for an amazing 24 years before being replaced in 1994 only serves to illustrate the soundness of the original concept. Indeed, the ‘old’ Range Rover – evocatively renamed Range Rover Classic – did not disappear immediately but continued to be built for another year alongside the new version.
This later and desirable 3 door version is fitted with the larger and more powerful 3.9 litre V8 motor and ZF4 automatic gearbox. Offered from a specialist with much experience in these classic 4x4s, this remarkably straight example has been serviced thoroughly and is ready to be enjoyed. Notably the Range has benefitted from new brake pads and discs, all new fluids, engine mount rubbers, steering rods, shocks absorbers all round and a new steel exhaust. Finished in a super cool combination of white with a beige interior, this is a great usable off-road classic which can be enjoyed all year round.
