The 348 TB and its targa-topped cousin the 348 TS had a lot to live up to: they replaced the 328, which was a revamped version of the original 308 and had been around since 1975, and had been one of Ferrari’s most successful cars ever.
Technically, the 348 was more closely related to its big brother the Testarossa than the 328; the V8 engine had been turned 90 degrees to be mounted longitudinally and set lower in the chassis.
The sweet V8 had been expanded to 3.4-litres and now boasted an additional 30bhp. And this, coupled with the much improved aerodynamics, meant that the baby Ferrari was now capable of 170mph.
The styling followed suit: with its side strakes and black grille over the tail-lights, the 348 is often compared to the Testarossa in appearance.
H528 EAE was imported from Germany in 1997, and has resided in the UK ever since. The service record shows a total of seven stamped services, in addition to receipts for other maintenance work completed over the years. The last (engine out) service was completed in 2014.
This lovely Ferrari is offered with its original manuals and a stamped service book. A current UK MoT is present, as are previous MoT certificates from 1998 to the present day; the car also come with German Fahrzeugbrief stamps from new to 1997.
With other mid-engined Ferrari road cars on a brisk march upward in terms of values, this is a fantastically usable supercar, and a certain investment for the future.
