Description

The Porsche 964 is the company’s internal name for the Porsche 911 manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994. In 1992, Porsche produced a super-lightweight, rear-wheel-drive only version of the 964 dubbed Carrera RS for the European market. It was based on Porsche’s 911 ‘Carrera Cup’ race car and harked back to the 2.7 and 3.0 RS and RSR models.

It featured a revised version of the standard engine – titled M64/03 internally – with an increased power output of 260bhp and lightweight flywheel coupled to the G50/10 transmission with closer ratios, asymmetrical Limited Slip Differential and steel syncromesh; it also had a track-oriented suspension system with 40mm (1.6 in) lower ride height, stiffer springs, shocks and adjustable stabilizer bars without power steering.

This 964 RS finished in black, was bought by the vendor through a dealer in the UK in 1997 from the car’s original owner in Germany who had covered just 22,000 kilometres from new.

The car has been enjoyed by the vendor and been driven, whilst being impeccably maintained by UK specialists such as JZM Porsche in Hertfordshire; the car was also well maintained while in Germany.

The car is sold with a detailed history and various owner manuals. Fitted with a full roll cage, Momo steering wheel, uprated suspension, 6-point harnesses, 18” BBS wheels and strut brace, the car is as ready to be pushed to the limit around a track as it is to be driven on the road. Sold with its original steering wheel, its original 17” magnesium wheels – which are as rare as hens’ teeth – and original suspension, this car could be easily put back to its original specification; that said, as it is now it is a more refined driver’s Porsche.

A collectable sports car producing over 260bhp, this must surely be one of the most exciting of all the 911 Porsches. A great opportunity to acquire an iconic sports thoroughbred. Not to be missed.
