The Mercedes-Benz R129 SL roadsters were produced from 1989 through 2002. The R129 replaced the R107 in 1989 and was in turn replaced by the R230 SL-Class in 2002 for the 2003 model year.
Designed in 1984, the R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 and featured many innovative details for the time. This included electronically controlled damping and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. The R107’s rather dated rear diagonal swing axle gave way to a modern multi-link axle. Luxury features were included as standard including electric windows, mirrors, seats and a hydraulic convertible top.
This particular model was registered in 1996 and shows an exceptional and original condition throughout. The car has been well maintained and includes a soft-top with clear windows as well as a hardtop in matching body colour. The car benefits from the most desirable engine, the reliable and powerful M119 four-valve engine. This produces 320bhp and complements the automatic gearbox nicely. Optional extras include a high quality BOSE sound system, climate control and electronically adjustable seats.
