Manufactured between January 1994 and early 1998 the 993 was much improved, and quite different from its predecessor the 964. According to Porsche, every part of the car was designed from the ground up, including the engine, and only 20% of its parts were carried over from the previous generation.
This Car, a 911 (Type 993) Carrera 2S is a 1997-model, 3.6 Litre engine (285 bhp) Vario-Ram, Coupe (‘S’ wide body) rear wheel drive with a 6 speed manual gearbox. This particular model comes in Ocean Blue (L3AZ) with light grey/ blue part interior.
The Guarantee & Maintenance booklet is original and shows the car being delivered to Porsche Northampton (Arlington) in April 1997. All identification numbers are present and correct, including the VIL sticker still present under the front bonnet matching the service book. The service book shows over 18 stamps over a 20 year period and a large folder of receipts. The car has been regularly serviced every 12,000 miles as recommended all at Porsche main dealerships except one time at JZM, a respected independent specialist. The last service is unstamped as the service book is full, however, the car was invoiced in June 2018 by Porsche of West London.
Recent invoices of note are a full geometry check at ‘centre gravity’ in 2017 following extensive chassis and suspension service and set-up. Prior to that in March 2015 the car underwent a compression check, cylinder leak down test (with good results), had a new clutch fitted, gearbox service and part re-build. In 2018 the car had a 230 point Porsche report done and the inspection report proves that the car has been extremely well maintained since manufacture and is still mechanically, electronically and cosmetically good to go! Finally, the car has been dry stored and retains that all important originality that investors are looking for.
