Based on the Yamaha Virago 535 engine, the Dragstar cylinders were bored an additional 5mm to 81mm and stroked 4mm more to 63mm, to net a displacement of 649cc. The Dragstar was offered from 1998 to 2008 in two different versions: the Classic and the Silverado. Both versions are built around the same 649 cc v-twin engine. The model offers the visual appeal of larger v-twin motorcycles paired with the fuel efficiency, reliability, and nimble handling of a mid-size cruiser.
Both versions also offered extensive opportunities for customization. As with other cruisers, a number of after-market manufacturers and distributors offer chrome, power-enhancement, lighting, and other rider enhancements designed to enhance rider enjoyment of 650 motorcycles.
This fabulous Yamaha was made from the 1999 Yamaha 650 Dragstar, and has covered only 27,900 kilometres (ca. 17,400 miles) from new. The bike has received a new livery, and chequered painted professionally. Mufflers have been replaced, as well as the knobs and levers; the footpegs are also special, as well as the saddle, which is finished in white with red stitching. A wonderful example of a special bike which comes with its original mufflers and its saddlebags.
