13,000 Miles From New - With factory fitted X50 power upgrade - Fitted with desirable manual gearbox
The 911 (996) Turbo offers genuine supercar performance in a compact and practical package. Theturbocharged version of the 996 appeared in 2000, three years after the normally aspirated 996 had replaced the much loved 993, and was as radical a departure from the 993 Turbo as its, opinion-dividing sister had been. Arriving with four-wheel drive as standard, a water-cooled engine, a smooth new bodyshell and a radically updated cabin, the new 996 Turbo was a thoroughly sophisticated, all-weather, competent supercar and although it went out of production in 2005, in real terms it’s still as quick as anything on the road.
Water cooling, a first for Porsche, allowed an engine redesign that included four valves per cylinder, enabling higher power outputs to be achieved with much better fuel economy. Although the Turbo is water-cooled it’s not the same engine that’s in the regular 996. The 3.6 litre Mezger engine in the Turbo, can trace its ancestry back to the old air-cooled units and is directly related, not only to the 996 GT3, but also the GT1 racer with 3.2 litres and 600bhp. This engine has proved virtually bulletproof and the standard 420bhp can be comfortably extended to 500bhp with confidence.
We are delighted to be able to offer this stunning 2003 Porsche 996 Turbo, supplied when new with the desirable X50 power upgrade, which through larger turbos and intercoolers boosted power up to a phenomenal 450bhp in a lightweight compact package. Mated to the desirable manual gearbox this is a highly potent supercar.
We note the car was subject to an insurance claim in 2007, however it was subsequently inspected and given a clean bill of health, and indeed the vendor cannot find any indication of previous corrective works.
Finished in a striking combination of Guards Red with a black red sports interior featuring the aluminium and stainless steel trim option, amazingly the Turbo has covered a mere 13,000 miles from new, supported by service records containing a total of 12 stamps in all. With new tyres and discs, and offered alongside service and mot records and UK V5C document, this is a fabulous road car presented in beautiful condition.
Interested parties should note that the cherished registration plate as fitted to the car is available by separate negotiation only.
