Born out of a skunkworks project by Italian-Brazilian designer César Pieri, the Project 7 almost never happened at all. The design was discovered by chance when Pieri accidentally showed it to Jaguar chief-designer Ian Callum. Callum was suitably impressed, and as such the concept then became a functional prototype and eventually reached production.
Developed by the, then new, Special Vehicles Operations branch at Jaguar; the Project 7 is based on the F-Type Convertible, powered by a 5.0 V8 Supercharged engine which develops 567 bhp. The car launches from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 186mph. Carbon ceramic brakes came as standard and unique adaptive dampers, special engine management and chassis stability control were introduced.
A limited run of 250 cars were made, with only 80 being delivered to the UK in right hand drive. The body is 100% aluminium, reminiscent of their famous historical D-Type Le Mans winner. Visually, it sports an ‘Aero Haunch’ behind the driver, similar to the D-Types, a quad exhaust and additional rear spoiler. With only 250 being produced worldwide, the Project 7 was an instant classic as soon as it was launched.
This stunning example of the Project 7 is only one of 80 delivered for the UK market, and has covered a mere 103 miles from new. The Jaguar has benefitted from a service earlier in 2017 and has covered a mere 28 miles since.
The Project 7 is hotly tipped by market experts for its growth potential over the coming years, and this fantastic low mileage example is one of the very best available.
